Journeys
Journeys is a series of lithographs in which Jean uses found marks to create new and tranquil spaces. These marks do not shout, they are overlooked or ignored, but for the artist, they are exciting possibilities. She is attracted by the sounds, movement and rhythms she sees in the making of them.
Jean lives and works near the sea and many of the marks are reminiscent of light upon water. The pieces are relatively large for lithographs and most are on Japanese paper which is slightly transparent and requires careful handling when printing. The delicate process is worth the effort for the fragile paper possesses a luminous quality.
